FAQ

What is "The Nintendo Boy Project"...? ...you know what, it's hard to explain. If I don't have time to tell them the story of what happened, I just basically tell people is that it's a site that hosts sketch comedy videos created by an eclectic group of people! Soo.. you probably want to know more? Well, scroll on below! (: Be prepared to increase your knowledge about us via our quick little FAQ!

You're new here, aren't you?

  1. Whoever writes the text here sounds cool/funny. Who is behind the site?

It's the one and only, Jeffrey Vega! (; You can view my portfoilo at www.jeffreyvega.com!

  2. I'm not interested in Nintendo or anything like that... should I be here?

Well of course you should! You may be thinking... oh geez, I don't like Nintendo! NintendoBoy.com?! That's probably some geeky game site! *runs away* Okayyy, let's slowww down a bit. First off, this isn't a Nintendo site. You do not have to be interested in Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pokemon, or really any video game to enjoy this site! Now hold on... you're wondering why it's called NintendoBoy.com... well, this is an internet project where sketch comedy is made, and the main character of the videos' name is Nintendo Boy! Sure, he loves a good round of Nintendo gaming, and it may be part of the plot or make cameos in the videos, but you can enjoy these videos whether you love video games or not... all Nintendo Boy wants to get out of you... is a laugh! (:

  3. Wait... so what's the story behind "Nintendo Boy" ? Who is he, exactly?

That my friend, is a tale of the ages. As far as who he is, well, no one really knows. People these days end up calling me "Nintendo Boy" since I look like him, but of course I'm not the original guy who started it all. You can read about the story of everything that happened here.

The Nintendo Boy Project

  1. Almost every video features different people... why?!

You may have noticed that this site is called "The Nintendo Boy Project," and if not... well, how is that even possible? Okay, so yes, this is a project. In the beginning of the site, I'll admit that I simply named that site title without thinking... I just thought "Nintendo Boy" alone would be a weird title so I threw in a "the" and "project" (in that order). Luckily for me, the site would evolve into a project, because the site became more than just myself, with others helping make the videos as fantastic as possible.

  2. So, who are the actual people behind the Nintendo Boy videos?

We're kinda like the Gorillaz of video-making; the band only consists of two guys (as opposed to the four cartoon characters), one of them is the lead singer and the other is the one who animates the characters. But in almost every song they do, they have a collaborator join in as they make amazing music. Take their Grammy Award-Winning song, Feel Good Inc. for example; it features the beautiful vocals of the main lead singer (Damon Albarn) featuring De La Soul to fill the middle rap section of the song! I'd like to think of myself here as Damon (I wish...), as I gather many different people to collaborate on videos and have them appeal to a wide audience!

  3. Amazing! All those collaborators must bring a lot to this project.

Why thank you for your non-interrogative statement! (; You are correct, they do bring a lot to this project. The site was originally all by myself, but then I gained a few great allies known as the original shenanigan-ers that helped the drive for the project. We've unfortunately parted our seperate ways thanks to different colleges, so it became increasingly difficult to keep posting new content. Since then, the project has expanded incredibly because of many different people who have signed their name on the project, and because of the diverse and fantastic group of people that contribute, the videos have never been better! Don't get me wrong about the original guys... we do everything we can to meet all up whenever possible and create a masterpiece as the original crew. 4. I love random factoids. What's with the quote on the site banner?

    Ah yes, our site slogan... definitely a neat part of the site. There's actually a full story about how those quotes became a staple on the site banner here. As far as random factoids, on that same page there is a bunch of neat otherwise miscellaneous facts about this site... enjoy! (;

If you are also interested about the story behind each video, there is a respective blog post when a new video is posted, and you can view that at the project video updates blog category!

Geek Alert... SOUND THE ALARMS!

  1. What editing software do you use? Your editing is fantastic!

Why thank you, imaginary person! I edit using the Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0, although it's not as great as it sounds. Okay, wait, I take it back. It's not great... for my computer. You see, the software is specifically for AVCHD files, which is the format my camera shoots in, which is great and all, but my little laptop isn't powerful enough to playback the AVCHD clips, so I can't watch it which basically means it's impossible to edit it.

  2. Wait... so if it's impossible to edit, how do you do it?

Good question, sir/ma'am. As I stated in the question above, with the simple laptop I have as of now, it is impossible to playback the AVCHD files to edit. So what I have to do is watch the beautiful HD clips playback on the actual camera, write down the times where I need to trim and clean up, and manually do it on the software without being able to watch my edits in real-time. Once I'm satisified with the editing project I basically just completed blind, I then render the movie (which takes hours) and cross my fingers that I got everything right so that I don't have to go back to square one... so in reality, it's not impossible, but it's certainly a tedious process.
